About Us: E.P.I.C. Carnival
Who is Jerrol “Stretch” Augustine
Born in the Republic Trinidad and Tobago, Jerrol Augustine, fondly known as "Stretch", journeyed to Canada during his teenage years. It was the vibrant caribbean carnival culture that rekindled his connection to his caribbean heritage. What began as a simple passion project in his garage—crafting costumes as a volunteer—soon transformed into a diverse community movement. Alongside a dedicated team of friends, family, and volunteers, Jerrol founded the not-for-profit community group, Durham Mas.
With time and tireless dedication, Durham Mas evolved and rebranded into what's known today as E.P.I.C. Carnival. Which participates yearly in the Toronto Caribbean Carnival. Through E.P.I.C., Jerrol not only celebrates the colorful tapestry of Caribbean culture but also fosters a sense of community. He fervently promotes involvement in music, art, dance, charity, entrepreneurship, and partnership. Above all, he champions the essence of volunteerism and connection, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the truly E.P.I.C. experience.
Mission : E.P.I.C. Carnival stands for-
Energy. Passion. Imagination and Culture.
It has been our mission to educate and celebrate Caribbean culture within our
community. We support local artists, designers and youth to express their
creativity and work together to contribute to one of the worlds largest Caribbean carnival events.
Through our costumes, engagement and programs, we elevate the presence of
Caribbean arts and culture in Toronto recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion in our work. We firmly believe that all ages, all sizes, all genders, all cultures, all races, and all abilities have a place in Carnival.
